About Bagamoyo
Bagamoyo ('Lay down your heart') was the terminus of the mainland slave caravan route and East Africa's most important port in the 19th century. German East Africa's capital from 1888–1891. Today: Catholic Mission with the oldest church in East Africa (1868), Kaole Ruins (13th century), and Bagamoyo College of Arts for traditional Swahili drumming + dance.
