About Pemba Island

Pemba is 50 km north of Unguja (main Zanzibar island) and attracts a tiny fraction of its visitor numbers. The result is uncrowded beaches, some of the Indian Ocean's most pristine coral walls, hills carpeted with clove trees (Pemba produces 70% of the world's cloves) and colonies of the endemic Pemba flying fox — the island is also a birder's paradise with 4 endemic birds.
