About Mount Muhabura
Mount Muhabura (4,127m) is the third-highest of the Virunga volcanoes and the most striking peak in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The name means 'the Guide' — its near-perfect cone once steered travellers across the region. A demanding one-day trek climbs through montane forest and Afro-alpine moorland to a small crater lake at the summit, with views over the Virunga chain and Lake Bunyonyi.
