About Wenchi Crater Lake

Wenchi is a 3 km-wide volcanic crater lake 155 km west of Addis Ababa. Set at 3,000 m in the Ethiopian highlands, the caldera rim gives panoramic views of wheat-field highlands. Visitors descend on horseback or on foot to the lake, cross by boat to Wenchi Cheretta monastery island, soak in natural hot springs, and return for a traditional roasted-kitfo lunch at the community lodge.
