Arrive Nairobi — Drive to Lake Nakuru
Your guide meets you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and you head northwest out of Nairobi, climbing through the Kikuyu Escarpment before dropping into the Great Rift Valley. The drive to Lake Nakuru National Park takes approximately three to four hours, offering stunning viewpoints over the valley floor. Arriving in the early afternoon, you check in to your lodge just outside the park and take a brief orientation game drive along the lake shore before dinner.

Lake Nakuru — Rhino & Flamingo Day
Rise before dawn for a full day in Nakuru, one of Kenya's most wildlife-dense parks. Morning game drives focus on the lake's southern shore, searching for both white and black rhino among the yellow-barked acacia woodland. Rothschild's giraffe, Cape buffalo, and waterbuck are almost guaranteed, while the alkaline lake itself shimmers pink when flamingo congregate in their thousands at the water's edge. An afternoon circuit sweeps through the forested escarpment where leopard are frequently sighted resting in trees overlooking the valley.

Nakuru to Maasai Mara — Rift Valley Drive
After breakfast and a short morning drive, you leave Nakuru and travel south and west across the Rift Valley floor, passing through Narok town — the gateway to the Mara — before the road gives way to the red-murram tracks that signal the beginning of serious safari country. The landscape opens dramatically as you enter the reserve in the early afternoon. An evening game drive gets you straight into the action: this is big-five territory, and lion sightings are common even on arrival day.

Full Day in the Maasai Mara — Big Five Safari
A full day in the Mara is one of East Africa's great privileges. Start with a pre-dawn departure for the golden-hour game drive when predators are still active — lion, cheetah, and leopard are all resident here in healthy numbers. The open plains of the Mara Triangle and the Musiara Marsh area are exceptional for elephant, hippo, crocodile, and during July through October the wildebeest migration crossings at the Mara River. Afternoon drives explore the rolling hills and lugga (dry riverbeds) where leopard rest in the shade of croton thickets.

Maasai Mara — Morning Game Drive & Cultural Visit
Your final morning in the Mara begins with an early departure to maximise wildlife viewing in the cool hours. After the morning drive and a hearty brunch back at camp, there is an optional visit to a traditional Maasai boma (village) where community members share insights into their pastoral culture, bead-work traditions, and relationship with wildlife. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax at the lodge, browse the curio market, or enjoy another short evening drive around the property perimeter.

Maasai Mara to Amboseli — The Long Drive South
An early start for the longest transfer of the itinerary: from the Mara, you travel south-east through Narok, re-entering Nairobi's southern ring road before continuing on the Mombasa Highway and turning south-west toward Amboseli. The journey is roughly seven to eight hours with stops, and the approach to Amboseli reveals the first unobstructed views of Kilimanjaro rising above the flat acacia plains. You arrive in time for a late afternoon game drive on the iconic dust flats as elephant herds drift in toward the swamps.

Amboseli National Park — Elephants & Kilimanjaro
Amboseli's greatest spectacle is best seen in the early morning when Kilimanjaro's glaciers catch the pink light and elephant families of twenty or more individuals cross the yellow grasslands in the foreground. The Enkongo Narok swamp feeds a permanent oasis that attracts buffalo, hippo, and vast flocks of birds including pelican, sacred ibis, and African spoonbill. Your guide navigates the open flats to find the big bull elephants, lions that hunt the wildebeest and zebra herds, and the ever-present Maasai giraffe moving like amber statues through the acacia scrub.

Amboseli — Morning Drive & Fly to Mombasa / Diani Beach
A final sunrise game drive in Amboseli captures the last of the savannah light before you return to camp for breakfast and pack for the coast. A short transfer brings you to Amboseli airstrip for your scheduled flight to Mombasa's Moi International Airport — a journey of roughly one hour that swaps the red dust and thornbush for the coconut-fringed shoreline of the Indian Ocean. After clearing the airport, a one-hour road transfer south through Kwale County delivers you to Diani Beach, where your ocean-view room and the sound of surf announce the start of the second act.

Diani Beach — Rest, Reef & the Indian Ocean
Diani's coral reef lies just 500 metres offshore, and a glass-bottom boat excursion reveals a world of parrotfish, sea turtles, and staghorn coral in the crystal-clear lagoon. The beach itself — bone-white and shaded by casuarina and coconut palms — is ideal for long morning walks at low tide when the sand stretches seemingly without end. Optional watersports include snorkelling directly off the beach, kite-surfing in the afternoon breeze, and a traditional Swahili dhow sunset cruise with local fishermen. In the evening, the resort's seafood restaurant serves the day's catch with Swahili coastal spices.

Final Morning at Diani — Depart Mombasa
Your last morning belongs to one final stroll along the shore, a swim in the lagoon, or simply a coffee on the terrace as the ocean breeze carries the scent of frangipani. Check-out formalities are relaxed, and your driver collects you at the agreed time for the transfer north to Mombasa's Moi International Airport in time for your onward international flight. Diani's warm hospitality and the memories of the Mara and Kilimanjaro will travel home with you long after the tan fades.
